Reality

Reality remembers a perfectly manageable period when things happened and that was largely the end of the discussion. Then humans developed expectations, and suddenly it was being held responsible for promises made entirely inside someone else’s head.

It now spends much of its time listening. There are explanations of how the project should work, how the relationship must unfold, and why the budget is technically sufficient if certain expenses are ignored. Reality lets everyone finish. It has learned that interrupting only delays the demonstration.

People mistake this patience for pessimism, which it finds unfair. A bridge that holds is just as real as one that does not. So is a kindness nobody expected. Reality is perfectly happy to deliver good news; it simply declines to alter the findings for presentation purposes. Gravity is a reliable colleague. Entropy generates paperwork. The Universe occasionally requests a wider perspective, which is easy to suggest when you own all of it. Through everything, Reality remains available for consultation. Humans generally remember this immediately after the point when consultation would have helped.
